Our Favorite Hot Chocolate Recipe

There is just nothing like a nice warm mug of hot chocolate when it's cold outside!

I want to share with you our family's favorite hot chocolate recipe! It is super easy to make and oh so good! :)

Easy Hot Chocolate

Serves 4

Ingredients

1/3 C. Sugar
3 Tbsp. Cocoa
1/8 tsp. Salt
1/3 C. Hot Water
4 C. Milk
3/4 tsp. Vanilla
Optional: Mini Marshmallows

Directions

1.) In a saucepan combine sugar, cocoa, and salt.

2.) Add the hot water and bring to a boil over medium heat. Stir constantly.

3.) Boil & stir about 2 minutes.

4.) Pour in the milk.

5.) Stir & heat. DO NOT BOIL!

6.) Once it is good and hot, remove from heat and add in the vanilla.

7.) Mix well.

8.) Dip out the hot chocolate into mugs (carefully, it will burn you!), and top with mini marshmallows if desired!

This is so good to have ready to serve with children come inside after playing in the snow during the winter!

This recipe is very simple, but trust me it beats those little instant microwavable hot cocoa pouches all to pieces!! ;)

Give this recipe a try at your house this week and let me know how you like it!!

  1. yummy! I love hot chocolate :) It is almost that time of year that I will stop making it, perhaps this recipe for one of my last cups of the season.
