10 Homeschooling Books You Should Read

If you need some fresh inspiration and encouragement along your homeschooling journey, there's just nothing quite like reading a good book.

These are books that I have personally enjoyed and believe will be a blessing to you. Whether you are considering the possibility of homeschooling or have been at it for a while, you're going to want to get your hands on these books!

Public school educators are required to log a certain number of continuing education credits for their professional development each year. As homeschooling parents, I think it is vastly important that we also make an investment in our professional development as home educators. Reading the books I have chosen to list below can help you become the very best home educating parent you can possibly be for your children.

Happy reading!

Join the 2018 Summer Bible Reading Challenge!

Sign up now for the 2018 Summer Bible Reading Challenge Hosted by Shield of Faith Homeschool!

Many families make reading a priority during the summer months, and that is great! But this summer, I wanted to do something special.

Since I like to focus on building up our children's faith, I wanted to work on our daily Bible reading habit this summer.

And I am welcoming YOU to join in this summer Bible reading challenge with us!

The dates for the challenge are May 28-August 3, 2018.

We are going to read through the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) during these 10 weeks. And rather than just reading straight through the books, we are going to be reading the Gospels in parallel and in approximate chronological order. In this way, we can really dig into what each writer has to say about the various miracles, parables, and events in the life of Jesus.

Anyone is welcome to join, but my prayer is that families will participate in this challenge together!

We can all benefit from reading and studying God's Word each day, so I am opening this challenge to everyone (Moms, Dads, students, homeschoolers, non homeschoolers, individuals, Bible study groups, etc.).

But what I really want to see is families forming and/or strengthening the habit of reading the Bible together each day. Whether you choose to read all the Scriptures aloud together or read them as individuals and come together for discussion, I want to encourage you to make this a family challenge!

You can expect to read roughly 2-3 chapters per day (Monday through Friday) during the course of this FREE 10-week challenge.

If you sign up, I will be sending out reading plans each week to help you stay on schedule along with tips and study helps so that your entire family (all ages!) can get the most out of participating in this challenge.

We officially start on May 28th, so make sure you sign up for the challenge by May 27, 2018!

Tell all your friends, family, and church family about this challenge, too. I am looking forward to having a great, faith building summer!
